How we do it

Decorative Concrete done properly in Davidson

If the slab underneath is structurally sound, an overlay or stain is a fraction of the cost of replacement. Acid stain reacts with the concrete for a mottled, permanent color that will not peel. Micro-toppings resurface a worn but solid slab. Polishing suits garage and basement floors where you want light and easy cleaning. All three depend on the existing slab being sound and clean, so we core or at minimum grind a test patch before quoting rather than promising a result we cannot see yet.

In Davidson specifically, the work is shaped by Staining, polishing, and overlays that turn an existing slab into a finished surface without tearing it out.. We walk the property before quoting so the number accounts for access, grade, and how much of the existing surface has to come out — the three things that move a concrete price most and the three things a phone estimate always gets wrong.

  • On-site measurement and a written scope before any deposit
  • Compacted, proof-rolled sub-base under every pour
  • Reinforcement and joint layout sized to the slab, not copied from the last job
  • Demolition and haul-off of the old surface included in the quote
  • Cure schedule in writing so you know exactly when you can use it

Questions

Straight answers

How much does a concrete driveway cost around Lake Norman?

Most residential driveways here land between $8 and $15 per square foot installed, depending on thickness, reinforcement, how much demolition and haul-off the old slab needs, and access. A long lakefront drive with a tight approach costs more per foot than an open suburban lot. We quote the actual slab after walking it — we do not price by phone off a square-foot guess.

How long before I can drive on a new driveway?

You can walk on it after 24 to 48 hours. Keep vehicles off for seven days, and keep anything heavier than a passenger car off for 28 days, which is when the mix reaches its rated strength. Driving on green concrete is the fastest way to put cracks in a slab that was poured correctly.

Do you seal new concrete?

New concrete gets a cure-and-seal at the right point in the cure. After that, resealing every two to three years is what protects against deicing salt and freeze-thaw spalling. We will tell you when yours is due rather than selling you a reseal every spring.

Will a new slab crack?

Every concrete slab develops shrinkage stress as it cures. The job of the contractor is to control where that stress relieves, which is what control joints are for. Cut correctly, cracks happen inside the joints where you never see them. Cracks that wander across a panel mean joints were cut too shallow, too late, or too far apart.
